Health and Wellness Research

Supporting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation

Our people in Australia have made a multi-year commitment to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. JDRF is the leading charitable funder and advocate of juvenile diabetes research worldwide. The JDRF mission is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.

Our JDRF supporters raised over AUD 36,000 in 2006 by participating in the organization’s annual Walk to Cure Diabetes, and through morning teas, raffles and gold coin donations.

For 2007, we increased our contribution target to AUD 50,000. Rising to the challenge, a record 124 Jones Lang LaSalle employees participated in the 2007 walk. Joined by family and friends, they raised more than AUD 51,000.

English Charity Partner: Successful relationships with Cancer Research UK and the Alzheimer’s Society

Our Jones Lang LaSalle and LaSalle Investment Management colleagues in England recently completed an 18-month partnership with Cancer Research UK (CRUK). During that time, our people participated in activities ranging from walks to triathlons, and barbecues to karaoke nights.

Their efforts raised more than ₤80,000 for the charity in 2006 and 2007. We also used the relationship to help our people raise their own awareness about staying healthy and avoiding some of the causes of cancer.

To keep employee interest and participation high, and to support a range of worthy causes, the English Charity Partner program identifies partners for set time periods. As the CRUK partnership drew to a close, employees nominated charities for the next partnership.

The Charity Committee created a shortlist of nominees and invited the charities to make presentations. The process led to the choice of the Alzheimer’s Society as the next charity partner for the English business.

Walking With the American Heart Association

In 2007, we celebrated our tenth year as a major supporter of the American Heart Association’s Metro Chicago Heart Walk. Our volunteers worked to raise more than $31,000 in donations.

More than 140 of our people joined volunteers from other organizations, including a number of our clients, for the Heart Walk. The funds they raised will help the American Heart Association fight heart diseases and strokes.

In the decade that our colleagues in Chicago have been supporting this cause, they have raised more than $200,000 for the association.

“Making Strides Against Breast Cancer”

Jones Lang LaSalle and law firm Baker & McKenzie have joined forces for a  number of years to generate support for the American Cancer Society’s “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” walk in Chicago.

The event, a spirited but non-competitive five-mile walk, raises funds for the American Cancer Society.

Walkers from the two firms collected donations totaling more than $28,000 in 2007.

Walking the Scottish Highlands for Charity

In 2007, employees from the UK, France and Germany completed the Caledonian Challenge, a 24-hour, 54-mile nonstop walk across the Scottish Highlands from Fort William to Loch Lomond.

The event has raised around ₤7 million for charities across Scotland since 1997.

We have participated in the hike for three years, with as many as 70 employees taking part, and many others providing support.

Supporting the Tourette Syndrome Association

In New York, we sponsored the 12th annual New York Golf Classic held by the national Tourette Syndrome Association.

Nearly 300 golfers attended the event, buying sponsorships ranging from $500 to $25,000 to participate.

Funds raised through the Classic support the Association’s mission to identify the cause of, find a cure for, and control the effects of Tourette Syndrome.

Supporting “The Story of Christmas” Charity

By donating office space in London and sponsoring a fund-raising reception, we support The Story of Christmas.

The charity raises funds for children’s charities, including Great Ormond Street Hospital, and for the provision of wheelchairs for children. Many staff also attend an annual Christmas Carol service hosted by the charity in St. George’s Church, Hanover Street.
