Emergency Relief
Americas Employee Matching Gift Program
The Americas Employee Matching Gift program allows our people to multiply their personal contributions to civic and charitable causes with funds donated by the company. Contributions to qualifying tax-exempt organizations are matched up to a total of $250 per employee in each calendar year.
The program is expanded when tragedy strikes: The maximum is suspended, so that employees wishing to contribute to emergency causes like tsunami or hurricane relief efforts can do so without affecting their contributions to groups they already support.
Supporting Tsunami Relief in Thailand
In the aftermath of the December 2004 tsunami, employees of LaSalle Investment Management, which was involved with a hotel project in Phuket, Thailand at the time, decided to raise funds for a school development project.
With local guidance, LaSalle identified the primary school in the small town of Kuraburi, about 100 miles north of Phuket. Although not damaged by the tsunami, the school took in large numbers of children, many of them orphans, from coastal communities devastated by the tsunami.
With the help and guidance of Mod Thai, a charity under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, our people committed to build a new library and computer center for the school.
One of our investment vehicles, The LaSalle Asia Recovery Fund, owner of the Phuket hotel project, joined by employees of both LaSalle Investment Management and Jones Lang LaSalle around the world, and a number of friends from outside the firm, contributed $100,000 to fund the project.
Thanks to the hands-on project management contributed by our Thailand Project and Development Services team, the new library and computer center have been completed.
