Charitable Giving
UK Give As You Earn & Matching Payroll Giving
To help UK staff leverage their charitable contributions, we support a payroll giving scheme, Give As You Earn (GAYE), and offer a Matching Payroll Giving plan, which matches contributions to any registered UK charity.
With the GAYE scheme, our people choose how much to give to the charity or charities of their choice. The donations are deducted before taxes are taken out, so individuals effectively pay less but contribute more to the charities they support.
When they enroll in the GAYE scheme, employees become eligible for the firm’s Matching Payroll Giving plan. The firm matches £250 of an individual’s charitable contributions each year.
Jones Lang LaSalle Charities
In the Americas, Jones Lang LaSalle Charities, a tax exempt entity, allows us to collect tax deductible donations from employees, aggregate them and direct them for charitable purposes.
In recent years, the program has raised money for Tsunami relief and also for Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.
Volunteering for the Chicago Civic Committee
The Chicago Civic Committee is a team of volunteers who identify and coordinate community activities in one of our largest markets.
The committee identified and implemented a variety of ways for employees to become involved with The Cara Program.
Cara provides training, job placement and support services to help homeless and other at-risk people achieve real and lasting success.
Our people in the Chicago area work with Cara in a variety of ways:
-
Conducting mock interviews that help participants develop interviewing skills
-
Providing computer lab coaching
-
Donating business clothing
-
Offering resume-writing assistance
-
Making financial contributions
-
Creating internship opportunities in our Chicago office.
Supporting the PerCent Club
In England, Jones Lang LaSalle is a member of the PerCent Club. This is a group of companies whose overall contributions to charity, including corporate donations and employee fundraising, amount to the equivalent of at least one percent of pre-tax profits.
