We recognise that not all these actions will apply in every country or every home or office, but - hopefully this is a useful list of good ideas.

Reduce your driving distance by 24 km per week.
Carpool whenever you can. Own a big vehicle? Carpooling with friends and co-workers saves fuel.
Inflate your tires – keep the tires on your car adequately inflated; check them monthly.
Change your air filter – check your car's air filter monthly.
Adjust your thermostat – move your heater thermostat down two degrees in winter and up two degrees in summer.
Check your water heater – keep your water heater thermostat no higher than 48°C.
Change the AC filter – clean or replace dirty air conditioner filters as recommended.
Take shorter showers – showers account for two-thirds of all water - heating carbon emissions.
Install a low-flow showerhead – using less water in the shower means less energy to heat the water.
Buy minimally packaged goods – less packaging could reduce your garbage by about 10%.
Plant a tree – trees absorb carbon dioxide and make clean air for us to breathe.
Use a push mower – use your muscles instead of fossil fuels and get some exercise.
Air dry your clothes – line-dry your clothes in the spring and summer instead of using the dryer.
Turn off your computer and/or TV when not in use.
Fill the dishwasher – run your dishwasher only with a full load.
Use energy-efficient lighting – replace three frequently used light bulbs with compact, low-energy light bulbs.
Unplug unused electrical devices and phone chargers – even in standby mode, these use energy.
Don’t trash it, recycle it! – Recycle one-half of all the aluminum cans, glass bottles, plastic, cardboard and newspaper that you use.
Reduce your garbage – buy products with less packaging, and recycle paper, plastic and glass.
