In this paper we examine the current tools for rating environmental performance of property in Australia and proposes an alternative approach to facilitate knowledge transfer across the building life cycle. We also evaluate the type of information necessary for the real estate market to achieve its desired sustainability outcomes. Finally, we discuss what could be achieved if feedback loops and access to specific data was integrated into the environmental rating systems for Australian property.
